
Originally a Valentine’s gift to Mrs. William Guggenheim. Steinway 7′ Model ‘B’ sketch 532 enamel grand piano, with serial number 123000, in the Louis XVI style. The spectacular piano was sold to Mr. William Guggenheim of 5th Avenue, NYC on February 14th, 1907, it was delivered to the Lucien Alavoine Company, New York, NY and custom painted by Robert Benvenuti for the Alavoine Company. The Alavoine Company was one of the decorating companies chosen to re-vamp the Waldorf-Astoria in the 1920′s. A standard Model B would have retailed in 1907 for $1,100, according to Steinway and Sons of Long Island the Guggenheim’s paid an astonishing $4,236 in 1907. The case condition is excellent with bright colors and fine finish. In concert ready condition. The instrument was re-strung and conditioned in 1973.
