PLEYEL 1898
A highly decorated painted grand piano by the French house of Pleyel, in the Louis XVI style raised on six fluted supports.
The palatially styled and gilded case displays painted scenes portraying Apollo and nine muses against rural landscape.
The inscription inside the piano dates the instrument according to Pleyel company records circa 1898.
Serial number 120127. Size: length: 230 cm (7’6”), width: 139 cm (4’7”), height: 96 cm (3’3).
Original ivory (great shape). New strings (low tension) and pins. All other parts are original. The instrument
possesses beautiful, noble tone and wonderful responsiveness throughout the entire range. The singing qualities together
with superbly working mechanism make this piano a unique find. Meticulously restored by French masters,
the complete restoration took place in France in 2004. Concert ready and collector’s piece. In pristine condition.
The action is all original and well regulated it is in an extraordinarily good state of preservation and playability.
